Registration

The symposium has room for 180 participants.

Fifty places are free for students and early career researchers, who apply for a place (and, if needed, a travel grant) before they register, with priority given to applicants from Southern and Eastern Europe.

Applications for a free place or travel grant open on 1 December 2026 and close on 24 May 2027. General registration opens on 1 December 2026 and closes on 3 September 2027.

Free places

Students and early career researchers apply for a free place in a short application form, together with any request for a travel grant. The application opens on 1 December 2026 and closes on 24 May 2027, and you will hear the outcome by 14 June 2027.

To apply, submit a short motivation text and an abstract for a poster or a session. Places are allocated on the basis of these, with priority for applicants from Southern and Eastern European countries and from institutions with limited resources. Successful applicants then register for free.

Travel grants

A limited number of travel and accommodation grants are available for early career researchers, with priority for applicants from under-resourced institutions and from countries where playful and inquiry-based STEAM in early childhood education is emerging. Apply for a grant in the same application form as for a free place; both are decided together by 14 June 2027.

Pre-symposium session for early career researchers

Tick the box in the registration form if you want to join the optional session on the morning of 7 October. Places are limited to 20 per group, and you will be asked to send in a one-page research challenge.
